Summary

Astarte is a minimalist tool and studio recording aid. It contains a UI layer, some logic related to MIDI messages, and local network access for communicating solely with systems sending and receiving MIDI Messages over WIFI.

Neither the application Astarte, the website, nor the developers in any other capacity collect any information from the usage of the application or visits to the webpage outside of standard information for web logging purposes.

The application makes no connection to the internet for any reason. Read below for limited network connectivity information.

Collection of Information

Neither Astarte nor its developers collect any personal information from users of the Astarte iOS application or website.

The Astarte iOS application does not collect any information from the user or device. The application does not use any third-party services that may collect information from the user or device.

Network Connectivity

Astarte connects to your DAW on a remote system by broadcasting MIDI messages over your active local WIFI network. The Astarte iOS application does not connect to the internet.

To display updated information on the UI, Astarte also listens for MIDI messages on the active local WIFI network. Any MIDI messages broadcast over your WIFI network may possibly be received by Astarte, but the application uses a small subset of MIDI events to implement its controls and other features. These messages are not sent to any third-party services, or are they stored anywhere.

User Preferences and Settings Storage

User settings are stored only locally on the user's device and are not uploaded to any third-party services nor any servers owned or operated by the developers of Astarte.

They are stored using a feature called UserDefaults provided by Apple. This is a standard feature of iOS and is used by many applications to store user preferences and settings.
